Apple, Green Pepper, and Flax Smoothie

Apple, Green Pepper, and Flax Smoothie

Soy, rice, and almond milk are popular dairy alternatives that have been around for some time. Coconut milk made its entrance like a blast from the past in recent years. The humble santan of my childhood which was used primarily for cooking and never as a beverage, now comes in modern clinical cartons. It is all the rage! How times have changed.

I recently discovered flax milk, the most recent milk alternative to hit the store shelves. Made of cold pressed flax seed oil mixed with water, it contains heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids. The milk is rich and creamy with little to no after taste. It actually tastes surprisingly like regular milk. I am really impressed!

Apple, Green Pepper, and Flax Smoothie

Since this flax milk is lightly sweetened with 7 grams of sugar per serving, there is no need for additional sweetener. The green bell pepper gives the smoothie a crisp, cool, and slightly grassy taste. Do give this Apple, Green Pepper, and Flax Smoothie a try.

Happy Easter Biren! I sure can do with one of these smoothies to boost my health! Now that you mentioned that the flax milk has low after taste, I just might try it, I have seen it being displayed at my health food store.

Flax milk, that’s interesting. It seems like food companies are never out of ideas in terms of creating new foods and food / milk alternatives. I’ll have to give this type of milk a try. Thanks for introducing it along with this refreshing recipe!
