It is one of those days when I had to sit in an auto lounge waiting for something to be done to my car. I would normally bring a book or magazine with me on such trips but this time I simply forgot. Good thing they had some pretty decent magazines lying around. I picked up the August issue of Family Fun and was delighted to find some great ideas for cool summer treats.

Rainbow Ice Cubes and Fruit Freeze (Fruity Ice Cubes)

The one that caught my eye was their rainbow ice cubes. Since it is Friday, I decided to name my ice cubes Fun Friday Fruit Freeze. This is such a simple and fun thing to do. All that is needed are some fruits and an ice cube tray.

Small Berries and Cubed Fruits

As soon as my car was ready, I headed to the closest grocery store and bought a bunch of fruits for my Fun Friday Fruit Freeze. I wanted a nice mix of colors. Since I already have some blueberries in the freezer, I chose some raspberries and a pineapple. These fruits would surely taste and look great together.

The blueberries and raspberries can be left whole as they are small enough to fit into an ice cube. The pineapple should be cut into small cubes. Place a combination of fruits in each little section of the ice cube tray and top with water or seltzer. Place the tray in the freezer and two hours later you have these delightful Fun Friday Fruit Freeze.

Love this! I do something similar when making punch drinks. You can freeze some of the extra punch into ice cubes along with fruit and that way you avoid your drink getting watery and add some beautiful fruit in at the same time. Thanks for sharing this and have a great weekend!

Love this idea Biren! Definitely a fun and creative way to jazz up plain ol' boring ice cubes. My kiddies would love these. I'm a huge sucker for anything fruity, and colorful. Guess I'm still a kid sometimes even though I have kids of my own (blush). Have a great weekend!

Hey Biren, this is genius! I always make fruit water, but I never really thought about fruit ice. I know Cauldron Boy would love this, so I'm going to make some now;)
Hope you guys have a good weekend. Oh, by the way, my Mom's garden kept me from doing any real cooking/baking. I'm supposed to be making 'Biren's Gluten-Free Bread' this Sunday. Everyone has promised to leave me be…
