Easy and fun Star Spangled Berry Cups using ready to fill mini fillo shells, yogurt, and berries for your patriotic parties and get-togethers.
It is the time of the year again for flags, fireworks, and barbecues. Every year the celebration comes to our neck of the woods as the city holds the 4th of July fireworks at the lake very close to our house. When venturing outdoors in this season, be sure to apply lots of bug repellent as the unofficial state bird of Minnesota, the humble mosquito gets to feast on the crowds. Despite that the streets are congested for a few hours as the people come to the lake for the day’s festivities.
These were the fireworks as seen from our patio last July. The scene truly evokes the second refrain of the National Anthem,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
Most families and friends gather for a barbecue before the fireworks. Every year members of our church gather at the parking lot with snacks, desserts, and deck chairs to watch the fireworks. We are always reminded to bring bug spray. 😉
There were lots of blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries this week at the grocery stores and they were really popular. As it has been so warm, I decided on a very simple no-cook dessert or snack that can be easily replicated for a crowd. If you are going to a gathering, do bring the ingredients separately and assembled these Star Spangled Berry Cups at the host’s house.

Looks so nice and refreshing! It’s been so hot, anything that’s no-cook sounds wonderful. And how can you go wrong with berries? Nice recipe. And I’ve been to Minnesota and have experienced those mosquitoes! Bug spray is mandatory. Nice post – thank you.
