This Grilled Pineapple with cinnamon sugar is a delicious accompaniment to grilled and roasted meats. Perfect also as a snack or dessert.
It’s Friday and it is bright and sunny outside. I am thinking SPRING even though we had a snowstorm last night with an additional 8 inches or more of fresh heavy snow on the ground. Maybe we should just skip spring and go right into summer. For sure Grilled Pineapple speaks of summer and hopefully before long the warm weather will be here.
Grilled Pineapple
Pineapples can be hard on the stomach as it can be pretty acidic. This acidity can be reduced somewhat by grilling as grilling does wonderful things to the fruit. It caramelizes the sugars and intensifies the flavor. Grilling also gives it a fantastic fragrance and beautiful golden color which is most appetizing.
A Side Dish, Snack or Dessert
Grilled Pineapple is a delicious accompaniment to grilled and roasted meats. I love it with curries too as it helps neutralize the creaminess of the curry. Grilled Pineapple also makes a sweet and tasty snack or dessert perfect for any time of the day.
In the recipe below, I made only 2 full slices of pineapple using the leftover cinnamon sugar from when I made these Whole Baked Sweet Potatoes. A fresh batch of cinnamon sugar is sufficient for 4 full slices of pineapple.
Since it is still snowy outside, I grilled the pineapple on the stove using my cast iron grill pan. I will most definitely do it on the grill outdoors in the summer. Can’t wait to fire up the grill but for now the grill pan on the stove will have to do.

Light, fruity, fragrant, sweet, and delicious Grilled Pineapple, a taste of the Tropics in the midst of winter.
A Brutal Winter
This winter is the coldest and most brutal I’ve ever experienced since moving here. There is just so much snow everywhere. Here are a few pictures taken at 1:30pm today. Our driveway was extended by about 15 feet because of the enormous snow pile in front of the house. In the summer, I would not be able to reach that arching tree trunk when I stand under that tree.
The snow piles as seen on the other side of the driveway and our mailbox.
This is one of the pictures in my Service Patio Project album shared on Facebook in June, 2013.
This is what the patio looks like now. Those 4 humps on the right hand side are the tops of the blue flower pots. Spring cannot come soon enough!

I don’t have a grill pan but I think it will work quite nicely on a George Forman like grill, won’t it?
Linda says
Yes, you can most certainly cook it in a George Forman grill. It will take only half the time since both sides will be grilled at the same time.
